VW Passat successor debuts next week, first details known

The legendary Passat will continue its career exclusively in the station wagon version, and the successor to the sedan should be an electric model announced by the ID concept. Aero. Volkswagen has now announced the premiere of this car for January 3 next year.

Over the past few years, the CES consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, held every January, has become a popular event for automakers to showcase new technology and even new models. One such is about to be unveiled by Volkswagen, which has announced that it will release information about the newest member of its electric family next week.

The key word is announcement, because there will be no serial version presented. According to the German manufacturer, a camouflaged variant of the new electric car will be unveiled, along with an official name. This means that the production version (with camouflage) of the ID.Aero concept presented at the end of June will most likely make its debut.

A prototype of the production version has already been spotted in traffic, quite camouflaged, so an official announcement along with the presentation of the production variant in a new camouflage, along with an official name, would be ideal for the CAS show in Las Vegas.

If it is really a serial version of the ID model. Aero, it probably won't be too different from the concept. A drag coefficient of only 0.23 Cd is expected, which will significantly contribute to the maximum range of 620 kilometers. Details regarding power and torque are still unknown, but it is believed that this model could be called the ID.7.

The CES fair in Las Vegas will be open to visitors from January 5 to 8, but Volkswagen will present its new model on January 3. The new vehicle, together with the ID.4 and ID.Buzz models, will be exhibited at the stand of the German manufacturer during the entire duration of this event.
