Audi Coupe B3 - old as good wine

Although not as well known as the legendary Quattro, Audi’s Coupe B3 is certainly one of the younger classics that absolutely deserves respect.

We sit briefly in the time machine and go back to 1986, when the four-ring brand introduced one of its most reliable and well-known models - the Audi 80 B3. At that time, this brand wanted to show that its vehicles are long-lasting, so the 80 and 100 models got a fully galvanized chassis and body.

Two years later, in 1988, the Bavarian manufacturer introduced the Coupe B3, a coupe variant of the aforementioned car, which had until then been available as a sedan. Of course, the coupe brought a slightly different style, and many then, but still today, criticized the "duck tail", ie the appearance of the spoiler on the rear of the vehicle.

The Audi Coupe B3 was initially only available with five-cylinder engines, to the delight of all fans of this brand. At the time, five-cylinder engines and quattro drive were the foundations on which Audi built its image in the world.

So, at the beginning, customers could choose a 2.3-liter unit with 136 or 170 hp, with the latter variant having as many as 20 valves! Later, in 1989, a two-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 113 horsepower entered the offer, but it survived only a year on the market. After that, an engine with the same volume and number of cylinders was offered, but 115 "heads".

Audi will then introduce a six-cylinder powertrain, but the crown of the offer remains the company's pride - a five-cylinder turbine in the Coupe S2 variant. This engine delivered 220 "horses".

Back in 1990, it was necessary to set aside 60,000 marks for the Audi Coupe S2 in Germany, for the basic version. For that money, they got a quattro drive, on-board computer, but also seats upholstered in satin. Cruise control, automatic air conditioning and electrically adjustable rear windows were offered as part of the options.

The Audi Type 89 Coupe ended its career in 1996. After that, this brand did not return to the traditional large coupes. The TT is the size of the class below this model, and the A5 Sportback is not a real coupe.

Why Coupe B3?
In short - it's a great vehicle, and who can't afford a Quattro, and we know the astronomical prices for that car, this is a great alternative. However, the B3 Coupe is slowly gaining in price, and as colleagues from Germany write, it is getting higher every year for well-preserved models.

Audi was then creating extremely reliable vehicles. The Coupe B3 is suitable for everyday use, it has a large enough trunk, and its two-liter gasolines also have a modest consumption - from 6 to 8 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.

Availability and spare parts
Of course, it is almost impossible to see some coupes from the B3 generation on the domestic ads of used cars. The situation in Germany is quite different. Most are those with four-cylinder engines, while those with five- and six-cylinder units are somewhat rarer.

The Coupe S2 is a real rarity, what's more - some claim that today it is rarer than the original rally icon - the Quattro model. As for spare parts, German journalists from Spiegel state that the situation for components is far better for older Mercedes and BMW vehicles.

The set of front brakes costs approximately 120 euros, the toothed belt (change in service) is about 500 euros for a five-cylinder block. The sports exhaust made of stainless steel is 700 European banknotes.

Prices

In Germany, this Audi coupe can be purchased for some 3,500 euros, and that it is in running order. Five-cylinder units are more valued than those with more or less cylinders in this model. A special league is the Coupe S2, where prices for that version start at some 25,000 euros.

Oletha Coupe

The Smith Vehicle Engineering presents a car called the Oletha Coupe, after the look of the BMW Z8 that the Bavarians never produced.

Although Smith Vehicle Engineering does not specify which model served as the base, some media speculate that the Oletha Coupe was made on the platform of the BMW E86 Z4.

Oletha Coupe
The body is made of carbon fiber, while the drive is taken care of by BMW's atmospheric 4.4-liter V8 engine, here with more than 450 hp.

Oletha Coupe
There's also a 6-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, mechanical LSD differential, stainless steel and Inconel exhaust system, KW adjustable suspension, AP Racing brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, as well as sports seats and a premium music system (interior images for not yet published).

The Tesla Roadster will not arrive until 2023

Another delay in the start of production of this electric supercar.

Tesla is going through a long and arduous path of further portfolio development and increased production. Priority has been given to the assembly of the Model 3 and Model Y. The latter, according to the calculations of the American brand, should be one of the most popular cars on the planet.

But in order to achieve such goals, something had to be offered as a sacrifice to the "gods of the market." Tesla has already confirmed that there has been a new postponement of projects that are not crucial - like Semi and Cybertruck.

Now new information - the Roadster will not be in production before 2023. “This has been a crazy year regarding the lack of parts. If we had planned 17 new models for this year, none would have come out, ”Elon Musk wrote on Twitter.

He added that assuming that next year will not be so difficult, it can be expected that the production of Roadster, ie the second generation of that vehicle, will start in 2023.

Let us remind you, the Roadster was supposed to be on the scene in 2020. Then it was moved to 2021, then to 2022, and now there is talk of 2023. It may not be even then, especially since it is announced that the crisis with the shortage of semiconductors will continue during the next year.

By the way, the Tesla Roadster was presented in the concept edition in 2017, which means that in the best case, an incredible six years will pass before the serial variant! Then Elon Musk made a series of promises regarding the performance of this vehicle - that the acceleration of 100 km / h will take place in less than 2 seconds, as well as that the maximum speed will be higher than 400 km / h. The billionaire then announced that the Roadster would be the fastest production car in the world.

Musk also said at the Roadster premiere that the first 1,000 units will carry the Founders Edition label and will cost $ 250,000, while standard copies of the battery-powered supercar will be priced at 200,000 greenbacks.

But in six years, a lot can change, including the price of a car.

TRD Lexus ES

TRD (Toyota Racing Development) has prepared a complete tuning program for the new generation of Lexus ES sedans, which is currently only available to Japanese customers.

So now the Lexus ES is available, among other things, with a new front spoiler and sills, as well as a rear diffuser and boot spoiler.

It should be mentioned that there are also new mirror housings on offer, a set of new 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels (in several colors), as well as a modified suspension as an option.

Finally, TRD for the new ES also offers interior elements, such as new door panels.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE is the first sports plug-in hybrid of the Mercedes-AMG brand to enter series production and rely on Formula 1 technologies. Under the hood are a 4.0 V8 biturbo engine as well as an electric motor, and the total power is 620 kW (843 hp), while the maximum torque is greater than 1,400 Nm. So, the driver and passengers in this rocket are literally expected to launch up to 100 km / h, which takes only 2.9 seconds.

The layout of the internal combustion engine on the front axle and electric drive on the rear, offers numerous advantages, say from AMG. Namely, optimized weight distribution, the best possible use of torque and very fast power delivery promise driving dynamics at the highest level. Added to this is a high-performance battery that has been developed internally, and has twice the power density of conventional propulsion batteries and, like many other components, is inspired by Formula 1 technology, says Jochen Hermann, Chief Technical Officer of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The striking design with a low front end, muscular body, low cab and the shape of the fastback vehicle emphasizes the sporty genes of the four-door coupe. Another striking feature is the front bumper, which is based on the design of the AMG GT with two doors. It looks like it was cast from a mold. The air intakes are wider, and the air flow is directed towards the wheels by means of three vertical flaps.
At the rear, the bumper has an integrated battery charging port and the model designation is marked in red. With the hybrid, the AMG also features trapezoidal double exhaust pipes. The "E PERFORMANCE" symbol indicates a hybrid drive.

As the brand's new flagship, the AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is specially equipped. It received all the latest upgrades, such as AMG RIDE CONTROL + suspension, and the standard equipment includes AMG ceramic brakes (dimensions 420 x 40 millimeters on the front axle and 380 x 32 millimeters on the rear) and MBUX multimedia system with special screens.

The cab has a standard built-in Widescreen Cockpit display that features an MBUX multimedia system with AMG hybrid-specific displays and functions. On the instrument panel, the driver can monitor the electric range, energy consumption, power output and torque of the electric motor and the temperature of the battery and electric motor. It is interesting that this information is also available to passengers sitting in the back and who can follow it on their screens.
The standard AMG Performance steering wheel also offers tangible and visible added value, with its distinctive double-spoke design and seamlessly integrated buttons. As a new feature, it is possible to select the recovery levels of the hybrid drive using the buttons on the steering wheel, and for the first time there is the selection of the electric driving mode.

The new model is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine combined with a synchronous electric motor, a high-performance battery developed in Afalterbach, and all-wheel power is sent by a 9-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. Otherwise, the drive is a fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC +. The combination of a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and electric motor generates 620 kW (843 hp) and a maximum torque of more than 1,400 Nm.

The driving performance of the most powerful production vehicle from Afalterbach so far is impressive: acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes just 2.9 seconds, and 200 km / h is achieved in less than 10 seconds. Acceleration ends at 316 km / h.

The 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor is positioned on the rear axle, where it is integrated with a two-speed transmission with an electrically controlled limited-slip rear differential in a compact drive unit (EDU). Experts call this arrangement the P3 hybrid. A lightweight, high-performance battery is also located in the rear of the rear axle.

There are as many as seven AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes: "Electric", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +", "RACE", "Slippery" and "Individual" are precisely configured for the new drive technology and thus ensure that driving can be highly efficient, but also very dynamic.

According to official Citroen data, the electric variant participates in the total sales of the model with 20%.

So, every fifth produced C4 is EV. The French brand points out that the main destinations for the electric C4 are primarily the domestic market, but also Germany and Norway, where this model managed to break through. In addition to these countries, the electric variant of the Citroen C4 sells very well in the Netherlands.

Recall, the French brand decided to use a different approach in the C segment from its sister brands - Peugeot and Opel, which adhered to traditional recipes with the new generation 308, ie Astra.

Citroen has never been afraid to experiment, so the new C4 is actually a coupe-like crossover, which shows the brand's desire to please potential customers in the SUV segment. The double chevron decided to make the most of the CMP platform, which, unlike the EMP2 architecture, envisages an easily feasible EV variant.

Audi's ace overcame his eternal rivals in Europe.

The E segment is under great pressure from the SUV onslaught, and only premium brands from Germany have remained in it. So the fight in this class is a bit boring, but the fact is that there are three titans from Germany: A6, Serie 5 and E class.

During the previous month, vehicles from this segment had a modest 1.7% share in sales on the Old Continent. The most popular among European buyers was the Audi A6 with 5,048 registrations. Thus, the four-ring sedan took a convincing victory over the competitors.

3,776 consumers opted for the BMW 5 Series, while the E-Class registered 3,710 cars sold. Interestingly, all three models indexed a drop in sales.

The A6 achieved a 25% lower result in July than in the same month last year. The representative of the blue-and-white propeller has a far more serious decline with 37%, while the biggest difference was made by the Mercedes E-Class. That car has a deficit of as much as 43%.
