2022 VW Amarok

Is coming in 2022, Volkswagen’s all-new Amarok midsize pickup. What’s the connection, if the all-new Ford Ranger is coming in 2022.

They will share certain platforms and co - develop other new ones, Ford and VW announced in January 2019. Part of that agreement included having the 2022 Ranger and Amarok share not only architecture but assembly plants, as well. When VW Chief Operating Officer Ralf Branstatter recently stated the new Amarok was on track to debut in 2022, that means the new Ranger will also be.

Ford and VW Collaboration

The collaboration is to be commercial vans and for midsize pickup trucks. The aim for these vehicles was for 2022, and that looks like they will be hitting that date. None of these vehicles will be electric-powered, supposedly. They will use the 2.7-liter EcoBoost six-cylinder engine or 3.0-liter diesel currently found in F-150 pickup trucks, instead. The Ranger has been around in its current form in other countries since 2011, though new to the US. By Ford of Australia, the current T6 Ranger has its origins in Australia having been designed, engineered and developed. The Ranger will have been produced for 12 years in one form or another with only minor updates, by 2022. While it may seem too soon to replace the current Ranger, looking at the larger picture it makes more sense. So, when you add that the new truck will be shared reducing costs, then it should be a great arrangement for getting both VW and Ford into new midsize pickup trucks.

It and its Ford Ranger twin could get turbo petrol and diesel V6 engines, but no plans for hybrid or battery power for next-gen Volkswagen Amarok ute.

The German car-maker has revealed, the next-generation Volkswagen Amarok due in 2022 will not feature a pure-electric power train or even hybrid petrol or diesel engines. At the Frankfurt motor show overnight, VW's chief operating officer, Ralf Branstatter, said the new Amarok pick-up would miss out on electrification altogether despite plans to introduce 20 cars based on platforms like the pure-EV MEB architecture, speaking to Australian journalists at the launch of the Volkswagen ID.3.

The replacement for the Amarok, co-developed alongside the Ford Ranger, will not get a mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid or pure-electric powertrain, instead favoring traditional internal combustion engines.

The decision, at odds with not only Volkswagen's push for mass electrification but also the Amarok's rivals, seems.

Toyota plans to launch a hybrid Toyota HiLux by 2025, and Mitsubishi is reportedly readying a plug-in hybrid version of the Triton within three years.

If the Ranger will rely just on fossil fuels or if the global alliance formed between Ford and Volkswagen to create the next-generation pick-up will allow the use of individual power trains, it's not known.

So, the Blue Oval has already bought a reasonable chunk of pure-electric start-up Rivian and confirmed it is in the final stages of development of a battery-powered version of its full-size F-150 truck.

The 2022 Amarok success could be limited in some parts of Europe that are planning to levy high taxes on vehicles with high CO2 emissions, without electrification. Australia's positioning on such legislation remains unclear.

Tesla Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck is all electric battery powered light commercial vehicle in development by Tesla, Inc. With range estimates of 250–500 miles (400–800 km) and an estimated 0–60 mph time of 2.9–6.5 seconds, depending on the model, three models have been announced. The aim of Tesla in developing the Cybertruck is to provide a sustainable energy substitute for the roughly 6,500 fossil fuel powered trucks sold in the United States per day.

The base price of the rear-wheel drive model of the vehicle will be $39,900, with all-wheel drive models starting at $49,900.

Production Cybertruck begin in 2021, with more models being offered by 2022 year.

The Tesla Cybertruck’s user interface in the prototype could give us a glimpse at what Tesla might do with upcoming UI updates. It created a lot of talk, mostly about its design, but many people focused on the insane specs and price, when Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck in November of last year. Tesla had one working prototype of the Cybertruck and gave test rides to attendees, at the launch event.

It gave a quick look at some of those interesting features and insane specs.

Video of a test ride in the electric pickup truck taken by Hamid Shojaee, which recently resurfaced on Reddit, showed a good look at the Cybertruck’s interior and its user interface, so the main difference is that the menu is now on the left side of the screen, which is the one closest to the driver, as well.

The menu is at the bottom and the driving visualization is on the left side, in Tesla’s current UI.

Since Tesla introduced the Model 3 with only a center screen and no instrument cluster, the speedometer is still displayed around the same position at the top left, which has been controversial.

An updated font as well as some new icons that fit the Cybertruck’s cyberpunk vibe, it also shows.

Also show, the settings, some controls for the vault, bed, at the back of the truck and even hints at an off road mode.

Cybertruck is going to be equipped with an adaptive air suspension system that is going to enable some interesting features and better performance with different loads, Tesla said that.

The Cyberquad, an electric ATV, is going to be launched as an option for Cybertruck buyers at around the same time as the truck. I don’t think Tesla could bring it like that to production vehicles — though that’s true of many things on the Cybertruck prototype but I like this new updated UI design. It’s also unclear how it looks with both the driving visualization and the navigation and the fonts should probably be easier to read.

Navigation is what I have maximized on my Model 3’s center screen most of the time and I assume it’s the case for most other Model 3 owners.

With the Model 3 UI, you can clearly see the map and the driving visualization, as well. With this new Cybertruck UI, It’s not clear how it would look.

I like it, other than that. There has been rumors that Tesla is planning some software, including an app, just for the electric truck only.

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC

The new 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC will be made in Sindelfingen.

This year that the facelift for the GLC was unveiled, it was just earlier, but Mercedes-Benz is already thinking about the second generation of the nameplate, and where else to produce it, as well. Mercedes is considering adding a new facility to the roster of production hubs for the GLC, with sales of SUV models on the rise across the industry. The carmaker said the Sindelfingen facility, the birthplace of the AMG GT cars, among many others, will be in charge of making the new generation GLC, in an announcement made this week.

Mercedes provide a statement that, with production of the GLC at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant we are putting our global production network on an even more flexible and efficient footing, Mercedes - Benz executive in charge with production.

Vehicles the plant is now receiving a further volume model in the much-sought-after SUV segment, alongside premium and luxury class.

The GLC is being assembled at several locations across the globe, currently. The present-day SUV comes together at the Bremen plant, in Germany. So elsewhere in Europe, the car rolls-off assembly lines operated by Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, Finland, while the Chinese variant is sourced from Beijing, with the help of Beijing Benz Automotive Corporation –BBAC- joint venture.

Whether the decision to start production in Sindelfingen will affect the other manufacturing sites, Mercedes didn’t say.

The current version of the GLC has barely made it out into the open, as said. The GLC in regular and coupe variants is just one of seven SUV it currently sells, alongside the GLA, GLE, GLE Coupé, GLS, and G-Class, for Mercedes.

Mercedes-Benz is also enjoying the golden years of the SUV body style, as is the case with most other global players in the industry.

More than five million were sold. 1.5 million of them were GLC and int predecessor, GLK models, since the first such car was introduced by the Germans.

2022 BMW X8 concept, engine, price

There was a question that always stood out, is BMW considering an X8 as well, since the new X7 came out. But it looks that the X8 will a bespoke luxury SAC with its own identity and not just an X7 Coupe, yet to be officially confirmed.  We published the information that X8 prototypes are already being assembled at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, earlier. It is safe to say that we will soon see the first test vehicles hitting streets all over the globe. That the highly unique BMW X8 will come in three variants with at least one of them being a full-fledged X8 M model, we also heard. The third member of the X8 family was rumored to be the brand’s first M Performance hybrid with the badge BMW X8 M45e attached to it, as well.

That the G09 X8 lineup will include an outrageous X8 M variant, autobild has also just reported. To be powered by a consistently re-engineered 4.4-liter V8 engine, the high-performance luxury SAC could boast a staggering peak output of 700 hp or beyond, which decently renders it as the most powerful BMW M model today.

That almost certainly the X8 won’t take the shape of an X6 or X7, but rather have its own identify within the design language at BMW, we’ve also learned. The X8 has always been rumored to be a more luxurious model, with a more bespoke finish for the discerning customer looking for the ultimate luxury, as well.

Is expected, the X8 to become the priciest BMW model in history, with the entry-level price starting somewhere near EUR 150,000 or 166,000 US dollars. So power trains will most likely include petrol and plug - in hybrid configurations. For the X8 M, price variant could possibly start at around EUR 180,000, which is nearly a hefty 200,000 US dollars.

Before 2022, we will likely see the BMW X8 family.

2023 Tesla Model S with new battery

The most popular Electric large Sedan in US is Model S, the Tesla would like to keep this position with the new 2023 Tesla Model S.

Model S is represented model since the electric automaker’s inception in 2003. Launched in 2012, it signaled a radical shift in the automotive landscape with its incredible performance, decent range and semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

Anyhow,  newer models such as the Model 3, Model Y, Roadster 2.0, and take some advantages in specific segment. So the concerning that Model S now starting to fade into the shadows. With a new 2023 Tesla Model S will have significant updates, with full redesign.

Tesla will take a positive approach and explore what a potential Model S replacement could look like with this illustrative design study.

Design of 2023 Tesla Model S

The new 2023 Model S will have inspiration of design in wedge-period from 1970. Frontal styling shares many design elements with the upcoming Tesla-roadster 2.0, including a shark-nosed facia, vertical headlamp cut-outs, and a Model 3-inspired nosecone graphic. The side profile catches your eye with a dominant crease that wraps around the car from front to back; this forms the basis of a wedge-aesthetic by dividing the upper and lower surface areas, with doors and fenders tapering inwards. Blacked-out lower windscreen pillars yield a dynamic effect, whilst the rest of the glasshouse is an evolution of the current car. The cabin would employ vastly improved aesthetics and materials, without being as spartan. Rear styling is angular and squared-off; featuring full-width horizontal LED tail-lamps and an aggressive lower diffuser.

Engine options for 2023 Tesla Model S

The original Model S had a myriad of standard, long-range and performance variants, with subsequent updates offering Insane, then Ludicrous Plus modes for performance that still embarrasses many past and present supercars.

The new Model S will have a single engine RWD entry variant, a dual-engine all-wheel-drive option, and a bonkers Tri-Engine setup. Tesla’s upcoming ‘Plaid’ performance model which would see acceleration figures dip below the 2-second mark for the 0-60 (97km/h) sprint.

New battery for Model S

The driving range would ideally north of the 500-mile mark, aided by improvements to Tesla’s current li-ion batteries.

Tesla is also working on a battery with a lifespan of million miles, helping reduce anxiety associated with long-term ownership and battery replacement.

2022 Peugeot 208

In a B segment tending ever more towards the Peugeot brand sets itself apart in introducing the alluring new Peugeot 208.

While ACEA data for May is awaited, April was a good month for Peugeot in Europe. Even though the new 208 is known about, the existing car remains popular, its sales (84,054) being only slightly behind the Ford Fiesta (84,703) and giving it seventh position overall for the year to date. Neither of these models can catch the Polo (102,410) and segment-leading Clio (119,774) though.

The new 2022 Peugeot 208 offers, right from launch, three different energy source options – electric, petrol or diesel. Body line no longer dictates vehicle usage.

This new Peugeot 208 generation, which fits perfectly into the brand’s upmarket move strategy, is distinguished by its keen design that brings with it a breath of youth and energy.

New Peugeot 208 is a new component in this vision of the future. Its new look is cheerful, sporty vitality, brimming with promise. Its sleek, quality design gives it a high-end look that is perfectly in keeping with the Peugeot brand’s up-market strategy. New Peugeot 208 is at the core of the B segment, making its own contribution to what makes the Peugeot range so successful: assertive design combined with distinctive innovation and technology.

New platform for the new 208

New Peugeot 208 sits on the PSA Group’s latest generation vehicle platform, CMP (Common Modular Platform). Dedicated to segments B and C, this new vehicle base complements the EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform).

As its name implies, the CMP platform is adaptable in terms of dimensions and engine variants. Accommodating all power sources, it will enable customers to select their preferred type of power train, a traditional combustion engine (petrol or diesel) or an electric engine.

Economy was the watchword throughout the development phase. This new platform helps to limit new Peugeot 208’s CO2 emissions, due to: reduction in weight (30 kg lighter vs. the F1 platform), improved aerodynamics (levelled floor-pan, electronically controlled air inlets), reduced roll resistance (Class A tyres, reduced suspension friction), power train optimisation (improved combustion output, down-sizing, reduced mechanical friction, transmission extension and generalisation of Stop & Start).

The CMP platform also provides for increased comfort and safety levels:

  • greater acoustic and thermal comfort on board, lower vibration levels,
  • driving aids normally reserved for higher market segments and unprecedented in the B segment.

New engine options for new 2022 Peugeot 208

The 2022 Peugeot 208 offer stimulating driving experience with its 100% electric engine, available from launch:

  • 100 KW (136 bhp) electric engine developing 260 Nm of torque (available from 0 km/h) for instant reactivity,
  • silent engine, zero vibration,
  • technology display on central screen (real-time drive train functional display).

He will offer three drive modes:

  • Eco: to optimise range
  • Normal: optimum comfort for everyday use
  • Sport: priority is given to performance and sensations, maximum power and torque (0 to 100 km/h in 8.1s).

Two braking modes are also available via the gear lever with appropriate battery regeneration:

  • Moderate, providing a sensation close to that felt when braking with a combustion engine,
  • Augmented, for controlled deceleration by means of the accelerator pedal.

Battery capacity of new 208

New Peugeot e-208 is fitted with a 50 kWh large-capacity battery enabling a vehicle range of up to 340 km, according to the WLTP (Worldwide harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedures) certification protocol and 450 km according to NEDC (New European Driving Cycle). Linked to the passenger compartment cooling system, fluid-cooled temperature control enables fast recharging, optimised range and increased life-span. This battery is guaranteed for 8 years or 160 000 km for 70% of its charge capacity.

The new Peugeot 208 will be compatible with Euro6 standards.

2021 Porsche Panamera

Is set to come in for a subtle facelift as it reaches the midway point in its life cycle, as evidenced by camouflaged prototypes spotted near the German automaker's headquarters, Porsche's second-generation Panamera.

Still feels fresh, the second-generation Panamera, even when compared to newer rivals like the Mercedes CLS, AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, but Porsche is already looking to give the swoopy liftback an update. Now the time has come to check out the standard variant while out and about testing with some sneaky camouflage, we’ve already seen spy shots of the more practical wagon version Sport Turismo in Porsche’s vocabulary.

Arrived in 2016 the current Panamera, as a 2017 model, so we'll likely see this updated one in 2020 as a 2021 model.

New fascias front and rear, have the prototypes. Also have been the taillights tweaked and feature a new design for the center strip joining the individual light clusters, which will likely be similar to the design used on the latest versions of Porsche's Cayenne and Macan SUVs.

Whatever changes appear should also feature on the Panamera's Sport Turismo wagon body style, note.

More power added to the various models in the Panamera line, which is usually the case with any Porsche mid-cycle facelift, we should see also.

2021 Porsche Panamera Engine

Currently the range starts with a 330-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 in the base Panamera and tops out with a 680-hp 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and plug-in hybrid setup in the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

The addition of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and perhaps even the use of electric compressors is one of possibility.

Starting to introduce mild-hybrid systems more automakers. This is essentially a beefed-up starter motor that can aid the engine during high loads and recover energy under braking and coasting. t can also power an electric compressor that helps build boost pressure in force-fed engines before revs rise and a conventional supercharger or turbocharger takes over, in some cases. Underpinning the current Panamera is a modern platform developed by Porsche and shared with Bentley, as well. The platform in shortened form is utilized in Bentley's Continental GT, and there are rumors that this shortened version could eventually underpin a modern successor to the Porsche 928 to take on the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso and Aston Martin DB11.

Still feels fresh, the second-generation Panamera, even when compared to newer rivals like the Mercedes CLS, AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, but Porsche is already looking to give the swoopy liftback an update, too. How we’ve already seen spy shots of the more practical wagon version (Sport Turismo in Porsche’s vocabulary), and now the time has come to check out the standard variant while out and about testing with some sneaky camouflage.

Could This Be The Future Of Porsche?

Sneaky because at a first glance, the prototype appears to be virtually undisguised, as well. If we zoom in and you’ll notice there’s a lot of black tape on the front bumper as well as on the tailgate, while the taillights seem to feature those fake stickers to conceal the real design, too. The large 21-inch wheels hint at a higher-spec variant, with our money being on the flagship Turbo S E-Hybrid judging by the lime green brake calipers. The angular quad exhaust tips also lead us to believe this is the cream of the crop, in addition. Spy images of the interior are not available at this point, but chances are the updates will be kept down to a minimum since the current Panamera still has an exquisite. Porsche was testing out something as we can see a blue wire attached to some sort of device on the dashboard, specifically on top of the instrument cluster. The mid - cycle refresh for the Panamera might come along with an extended lineup taking into account the rumor mill is saying Porsche has plans for two-door coupe and convertible versions, as well. As 2020, the 928’s spiritual successor together with its droptop counterpart will allegedly be out as early, which would coincide with the facelift. We’d take this rumor with the proverbial pinch of salt as we haven’t seen any prototypes so far of what some folks are tentatively calling the 929, that being said. The Panamera facelift will reportedly be unveiled before the year’s end with mild-hybrid technology for better low-end response and improved efficiency, meanwhile.
